Steam locomotives in Europe are pretty much a thing of the past except maybe for Poland's Wolsztyn where scheduled passenger services still operate to Poznań - a large city in western Poland near Germany. This is perhaps the only place left in the world where amateurs, or tourists for that matter, can footplate a locomotive or wander around maintenance facilities to take photographs, no questions asked. Enjoy it while it lasts as the current owner, PKP Cargo, is planning to privatize the enterprise.
Pictures taken in the summer of 2010.
What a simply wonderful series of images. Enjoyed every one of them. Well done.
PS - Found this page from your winning entry on DPR. Big congratulations on your win.
Great series! I truly believe that many photos here are very good and of great value. I especially like those with human beings. You did a very good work. Congratulations!
